Aussie X – Footy Programs
Our footy program starts with the fundamental skills of Kicking (from hand to foot, trying to make the ball spin backwards) and then onto Handpassing (much like the action when performing an underarm volleyball serve). There is NO THROWING of the football in Aussie rules football.
It is essential for participant success and enjoyment that we spend quality time on these two skills before we advance into the more active components within the program. The fact that the two skills are new to most young Canadians (and their teachers/leaders) means it is a great experience for everyone involved!
With these two staple skills, the Aussie X Footy Program breaks into a series of fun and engaging games – both stationary and on the move.
For the more advanced and longer programs participants will also be introduced to the much harder than you think skill of Bouncing the footy and of course the renowned and ridiculously fun Speckie.
Depending on the program you choose it will include some or all of the following:
- Kicking skills & drills.
- Handpassing skills & drills.
- Bouncing skills & drills.
- Leaderball – a series of drills using handpassing and marking (catching the ball).
- Marking and Speckies.
- Contact skills.
- Rules and game-play drills.
- Play a game play with unique footy sport uniforms, goals and equipment.
- Added Aussie cultural bonus (quiz, chants & lingo).
- Prizes and heaps of fun!
Whether a school with grade 12 students or a summer camp with 5 year-olds, the Aussie X Footy Program can be enjoyed by any age, gender and all levels of abilities!
The program is centred around getting all participants actively involved and loving the fun had when learning something new.
