Program structure:
Aussie X Programs work within your school or camp’s timetable. Programs are made up of clinics which run for at least an hour. Most secondary school periods are 60 – 75 minutes which suits perfectly. Elementary periods are often shorter (35 – 45 minutes) therefore in these scenarios we double up periods and create clinics of 70 – 80minutes. At camps we have a lot more freedom and can create specific timetables to suit each camp’s needs.
We suggest a minimum of three Aussie X clinics (equivalent to approximately three hours of action) with each group of kids we teach.
This allows the kids to complete:
- Introduction and fundamental skills (necessary as there are many new skills to learn).
- Rules and game play.
- Play an ACTUAL GAME of your chosen sport!
Programs that run longer simply enable us to run through each component of the sport with more time allowing for greater understanding for the kids.
Longer clinics also enable us to incorporate many more drills so the kids can try out all of the amazing new skills they have learnt in a unique sport.
Clinic/group size:
We can cater for up to 50 participants per clinic. This enables school’s to combine physical education classes and allows for mass participation across all organizations. If you would like to create bigger group sizes, that’s fine, we will just need to align a second instructor to these clinics (at a small added cost). Or if you would like more specialized instruction for your kids when learning the new and unique skills of the sport – we can have smaller instructor-participant ratio numbers. Let us know what you would prefer, we will cater a Program to suit your needs.
Equipment:
We arrive at your organization with all the equipment required to run the clinics. Footies, cricket balls, stumps, netballs, goals, teaching aids and dvds, prizes and authentic sports uniforms!
Prizes:
Furry little animals, key rings, interactive cd-roms, hats, backpacks and posters will motivate participants throughout each clinic. Not to mention a few other delicious surprises as well – Aussie Chocolates! Yum!
How much space is needed?
Have you got a field, court or indoor gym area? We can cater programs to suit your space. Let us know what we are working with.
What about weather?
As mentioned above, we can work indoors or outdoors so we can adjust the Program on the spot if the weather turns. For summer programs we like to work outdoors and for winter programs we are happy keeping warm indoors.
Teachers and camp leaders – what do you do?
Join in on the fun! We ask that all teachers and camp leaders simply help with student/camper management but when the action begins we want you all to get involved as well.
One of the great strengths of this program is that EVERYONE starts at a level playing field – teachers included! Teachers/leaders and students/campers all learn together, helping each other grasp the new concepts of the sport and work with these concepts in the physical setting.
We often see the kids learn and develop at a quicker rate than the teachers. Before too long we often see the fast-learning student help their teacher with any number of the new concepts, creating an awesome reverse teaching effect as the student now becomes the teacher!
Added extras:
Your organization has the opportunity to take advantage of a whole range of added extras. Coming from an education background the program’s founding Director, Emile Studham, can create individual programs for your organization. Ranging from Australian Sporting Written Tests to assess your students to cooking the ultimate bush tucker meal by the camp fire. Simply make an inquiry with your requests, and Aussie X can get it done! Fair dinkum mate!
